Educational Programs
Education was one of the unifying tenants when The Friends of The Green Center (our original name) was formed in 1997. Since then, it has been integral and infused in all that we do. We offer camps, after school programming, and one-off experiences for kids and local students. For adults, we offer various speaker series, artists openings, and social events.
Art Gallery
In our main Green Family Home on Blackberry Ave, we have converted several of the rooms on the lower level into art galleries. There we feature exhibitions by local artists whose work focuses on and/or is connected to nature. With each new show, we host a free opening where attendees can meet the artist(s), experience the show, and mingle over art and light refreshments.
Habitat Restoration
TGC staff and volunteers also work to restore nearby habitats by removing invasive plants and planting native, local species. They work in the adjoining Kaufman Park Woods, Ruth Park Woods, the Urban Corridor, and the prairie and wetland between Brittany Woods Middle School and Ruth Park Golf Course.
