ADA Accessible Classroom

Spector Family Nature Studio

The Green Center offers outdoor spaces that enables students to learn about the natural world through inquiry-based programming. With the addition of our Spector Family Nature Studio, our outdoor programs are now ADA accessible to a variety of ability needs and levels—both indoors and outdoors! This assures the inclusion and learning needs of all visitors through seasonal, outdoor program experiences.

Our ADA compliant room includes an ADA restroom facility, movable walls that bring the outdoors in, ADA accessible garden beds, a gathering space for hands-on programming year-round and gives everyone-regardless of physical or cognitive challenges- access to nature through our outdoor programs. The Spector Family Nature Studio provides a nature-rich environment where everyone can learn and grow with nature.

We customize our programs to meet the specific needs of each group. If your group has specific needs or objectives, please let us know to help us design your special program!
SOME OF OUR PREVIOUS PROGRAMS:

SENSORY IN THE OUTDOORS
This program encourages participants to focus on and explore the outdoors using their senses. Discover the sights, smells, textures, tastes, and sounds of nature all year-round. A highlight of this program will be utilizing a variety of plants in our herb garden.

RAISED BED GARDENING
Learn about our raised garden beds, observe the different parts of plants, discuss healthy eating, and growing plants from seeds. Programming can also include: garden art projects such as seed art, gourd painting (when available), designing garden markers and creating your own “mini garden” to take with your group are just a few of the many options we have to offer!

NATURE FOR ALL SEASONS
Participants will engage in seasonal specific activities such as: leaf rubbings, nature’s crayons, water coloring/painting, prairie plant arrangements, nature journaling, fairy gardens, creating natural bird feeders, tree branch art, and MORE!
Program length:  1-2 hours
Fee:  $7 per participant (minimum of $25 per group)
Group size:  12 maximum
