Do you enjoy planning, implementing and managing projects? Help the Green Center by volunteering for one or more of our front office activities.
Marketing, Public Relations, Graphic Arts
The Green Center offers many volunteer opportunities for people experienced in marketing or public relations to:
establish a volunteer marketing group
assist with marketing plans
produce PR materials or media coverage for the organization, its educational and volunteer programs and its special events
If you have little or no experience but would like to learn, then volunteer to assist experienced marketing and PR volunteers.
If you have ability in graphics or experience with graphics software or with advertising art work, then there are unlimited opportunities for producing promotional materials, educational materials, and fund raising materials. The Green Center publishes regular class/event schedules and newsletters. We are always looking for volunteers who can do desktop publishing to help with the design and production of these materials.
Art Exhibits, Cultural Programs
If you are an established artist in the community, have exhibited, or taught classes for youth and/or adults, then the Green Center has a volunteer position for an artist-in-residence. Responsibilities include teaching at least one class per year (of your creation), enlisting local artists to teach art classes or to exhibit, and assisting with art-related fund raising events. Income may be available from a percentage of class fees, fund raising event revenues, and future grant funds.
Office Assistance
Assist the Executive Director, Program Director, or Volunteer Coordinator with projects in the office. Responsibilities will include a variety of support tasks that require computer knowledge, a sense of organization, and willingness to work with others. Some examples of office tasks are: database updates, making copies, compiling educational materials, answering the phones, or assisting with special events and projects. Your level of experience, skills, interest, and availability are what guide the level of tasks you will be involved in.
Please contact us for upcoming opportunities and schedules at 314-725-8314 x 102 or e-mail volunteer@thegreencenter.org.
Fund Raising, Grant Writing
Assist in fundraising and development to support the Green Center's education and renovation projects. Grant research and writing experience are required. Some knowledge about non-profit management and some experience with capital campaigns is a plus. Good writing skills are a must.
If you have an idea for an event or product that can help the Green Center raise additional funds for its educational programs, renovation needs, and operational expenses, then we'd like to talk with you. Let us know how your idea fits into the mission of the Green Center, provide a plan for how it can be implemented, and outline what your role should be in seeing it through.
Finance, Accounting, Book Keeping
Assist the Executive Director in budgeting, updating our books, and performing internal audits.
Legal
Provide the Executive Director with occasional legal advice regarding non-profit operations.
