In the Classroom

Are you an experienced teacher or do you like working with others in a leadership role? Help the Green Center by volunteering for one or more of our educational programs:

Spring Vegetable School Gardens

The Green Center collaborates with U City in Bloom on a vegetable garden project at the six University City elementary schools. Volunteers work with school children to prepare garden beds, plant and maintain the gardens and harvest the gardens at the end of the school year. If you love gardening and working with children, then this is a great opportunity for you.

Open Spaces Docent/Instructor

It is so gratifying to see the look on children's faces or adults, when they are surprised by things they see and learn in the Green Center’s open spaces. Train to provide outdoor tours of the demonstration gardens, prairie, wetland, and/or woods. Enjoy the outdoors through different seasons and learn the magic they have to offer. Set your own hours and style. Connect people to nature by guiding them through the native and hybridized gardens that surround the Green Center.

Teach Classes

Teach classes that focus on our outdoor spaces, or art, or science, or combine any or all of these areas together. Work with our program director about introducing new classes or teach existing curriculum for any age level.
